Was ist der Unterschied zwischen culprit und perpetrator ?
A:

1
A perpetrator is someone who commits a crime (or other illegal activity). From Latin perpetrare, "to perform, accomplish"
A culprit is someone who is guilty of a crime (or charged with one). The first part is the same as in culpable, from the Latin for guilt (culpa)
You can be guilty of a crime without actually doing anything, such as standing by and not helping someone in distress. Negligence is something which would be a non-activity which would have a culprit, but not a perpetrator.
Note the difference :) I hope you liked it !!

Q:
The culprit was not satisfied with the government's actions, so he ended up assassinating the former prime minister klingt das natürlich?
A:
× The culprit was not satisfied with the government's actions, so he ended up assassinating the former prime minister
✓ The culprit was not satisfied with the government's actions, so he assassinated the former prime minister
It sounds a little unnatural as when you are talking about the past, he hadn't yet assassinated the prime minster, so he wasn't yet a culprit. Nothing wrong with the English.
I don't know why but not using "ended up" makes it sound better and not have that same time issue. Unsure why
It was only slightly odd to me, and maybe others disagree

Both are..
interesting choices.. Here are my thoughts...although it doesn't necessarily make mine 'right,' because this might be a subjective view and differ with others.
Depending on context, "Why do you think I'm the culprit?" could have an almost whimsical feel to it. It's more direct and might be challenging the person asked to justify their conviction, opinion or belief. Depends how it's said and the tone of voice, facial expression
What makes you think I'm the culprit? ....feels more casual and that the person is really wanting to know what I think. ..but once again..it depends on the people.
