Q:
"Might as well" daubt
I've always wondered the meaning of the phrase "might as well". It is difficult for me because I'm a Spanish speaker and that phrase doesn't have an exact translation into Spanish. Besides, I think that the meaning depends on the context, of course.
With that being said, I asked around about this daubt that I have and a person told me that "might as well" is the same as saying "it would be the same if".
Do you think that those two sentences are the same? Having in my mind "it would be the same if" each time I see "might as well" would fit/work regardless of the context?
Thank you in advance. I would really appreciate your help with this long question.

A:
Not exactly. "Might as well" would be closer to "This thing can happen, so why not?"
Does that make sense? I can try to explain some examples if not

Q:
This is a daubt I've had for a long time. Which of these five sentences is correct?
a) I can't help but feeling...
b) I can't help but feel...
c) I can't help feeling...
d) I can't help feel...
e) I can't help but to feel...
There may be more than one correct, of course, but I really want to know which one is wrong or very uncommon so that I can stop saying it forever.

A:
B is the most correct (when using an adjective), however E is also correct in some cases (if you add an object of the preposition, a noun).
I can't help but feel sad that my sister left for college.
I can't help but to feel regret about the choices I made.
edit: on second thought, c is also correct... english never ceases to surprise me with its complexity
