A: "Did he still alive?" is actually an incorrect term, i guess what you want to say is "Is he still alive?", which is a question you use if you want to know if "he"(a male Person) is still living
Another similar sentence would be "Is he dead?"

A: it means like something happened and you didn't get to witness it, so you ask if it already happened.

W pytaniach "did" jest operatorem i występuje po nim I forma czasownika, np. : "DID you GO to the cinema?"- Czy poszedłeś/poszłaś do kina?
"DID you BUY a bag?"- czy kupiłeś/aś torbę?

W przeczeniach używamy "did not" lub didn't ( krótka forma did not, mniej oficjalna) oraz I formy czasownika,np.:
"I DID NOT/DIDN'T GO to the cinema"

I don't think many people would say "Did you figure out how to work it on" ..

I don't want to say it doesn't make sense because i know what you are saying..but it doesn't.

In any situation I would use A's phrase.
