Q:
Was bedeutet familar?
A:
Sorry but, "familar" appears to be a misspelling of the word "familiar" which means that which you know or recognize. i.e. "Her face seems familiar to me", or "I am familiar that part of town", or "Are you familiar with how to do this kind of work?". These are three common ways which native speakers use this word.

Was ist der Unterschied zwischen I, who is new here, are not familiar with this city.(A) I, who am new here, are not familar with this city.(B) which relative clause is right? und I, who is new here, are not familiar with this city.(A) I, who am new here, are not familar with this city.(B) which relative clause is right? which false? ?
A:
First things first, neither of these sound natural.
Secondly, "who is" would be correct because the verb has to match "who" instead of "I".
"I, someone who is new here" sounds far more natural.

Q:
I'm not familar with the difference between "civil" and "civic" when I think of the term "the Civil Rights Movement."
I know "civil" is used in contrast to the military or church and "civic" refers to a town or city, or the government.
But when it comes to the Civil Rights Movement, I wonder how the altered phrase "the Civic Rights Movement" would sound like.
In short, why is it "civil" instead of "civic?"
Thanks.

A:
As you can see in the dictionary. "Civil" used in contrast to the military is only one usage of the term. There are many others.

Apparently, "civic" rights would only refer to an individual person, whereas "civil" refers to the rights of everyone. I have never heard the term "civic rights," however.
