A: The difference is because of the "won't have to go" part. You could say "hadn't failed" or "wouldn't failed", they are both correct. BUT: "Won't have to go" means the FUTURE, while "didn't" is PAST. So, answer C is incorrect because the time of both parts does not match up.

Both of those sentences would sound more natural. If you are asking someone if you should wait, the first sentence would work. If you’re telling someone you should wait, the second would work better. Hope that helps!
