I did a google translate and it could just be a language barrier where the translation is slightly different then the english meaning. if someone says "as much" to you in person they mean something is equal to something

A: To be honest, they both seem to have the same meaning. Personally, I prefer the second statement because I like using “gerunds” (verbs that end in -ing) to mix-up or add variety to my sentences.

A: The first one isn't quite proper. You can't really use the word vitally with the word important, as vital basically means "very important". It's kind of like saying the same word twice.

The second one is absolutely perfect, and yes, it sounds formal. If you want to say this informally, try saying something like "Learning English is crucial", "Learning English is extremely important", or "Learning English is very important".
The last example that I listed sounds the most informal.

For me, the most important things are the basics. We should study the basics of language. I think that part of the basics of studying foreign language is grammar. In my case, I was studying English and Japanese grammar in Korean.

Then I try to remember useful sentences by reading and writing them. Reading aloud and writing by hand involves a number of senses. I like to read a dictionary to understand how to use words.

Then I test myself and repeat it until I can remember them perfectly. I think repetition and exams are effective.
I try to never repeat any of my mistakes. I don't mind studying a long time to progress.
Even if it takes less time than I thought I still try not to be impatient. Ultimately, this can more save time. During my first two years of studying Japanese I would study for 5 to 10 hours a day. A: Good question. All I can tell you is what works for me:

Grammar is VERY important, since how you choose to express yourself determines what people think about you. Depending on what impression you want to make, sometimes you'd say things that are correct grammar and sometimes you'd say things that aren't considered correct. But they would still be natural.

Grammer is like looking in the rearview mirror, and much of what is considered "correct" today includes things that were incorrect but very common a generation ago.

To sound really natural, like others have already said, it's critical to imitate real native speech and writing as much as you possibly can.

Personally, I've never been able to get any real benefit out of studying grammar. I have received huge benefits from imitating native speakers.

For example, I take many of the HiNative answers by native speakers and put them in Anki (which is a SRS program) so I can practice them over and over and over... I do the same thing with things that native speakers post on Facebook, or Weibo or 百思不得姐 or whatever.
