This way, you will be able to hear these phrases being used and you will be able to naturally start to understand the meaning. Other than this way, you might be able to search for other common idioms and learn that way. Usually, when you search for other idioms online, the meaning of the idiom is also given.

A: To "pound" on someone means to hit them.

A: It means that they are very light weight or skinny. When you are wet you weigh more so if they only weigh 5 pounds when wet it means they are very light.

"Pound the liquids" was just a funny way of saying it. It's not a common expression. The person just made it up. The slang "to pound something" is sometimes used to mean "drink, eat, or use a lot of something."

A: For the weight measurement "pound" it is mostly used for the same things as "kilogram", they just have different amounts.

Technically, "pound" is defined by the amount of gravitational force and kilogram is defined by the mass. So if you travel to a different planet (for a different amount of gravity) with a scale, then the scale should say you have a different weight in pounds but the same mass in kilograms.
