(usual: 普通)

The above sentence is the usage example in English-Japanese dictionary.
Suppose I change "usual" to "normal", but is the meaning of this sentence same?
The meaning of "normal" is "普通", too.

ex.)
It is not normal for her to cut school.

Ah! The oddities of English...

Most of the time, when words can be shorted or combined, they are likely be (with the most common exceptions being formality and emphasis). However! What you're doing is entirely correct, as with other similar situations such as:

"These are not our usual suspects."
"They behaved themselves, which was not a usual occurrence."
