Was ist der Unterschied zwischen There was no excuse for what I'd done other than because it was what I wanted and needed to do. und There was no excuse for what I'd done because it was what I wanted and needed to do. ?Du kannst auch einfach Beispielsätze geben.

If I'm not mistaken, it seems to me that both mean the same thing.
How the word other than work here?

For the first one, "other than" is like saying "yes there is no excuse, except for this one". 以外と同じように

The two sentences have different connotations, as the first sentence is saying "this excuse is the only excuse" and the second one is saying "what I did doesn't require an excuse".
