I wanted to ask about “Eraser” by Ed Sheehan.

I couldn’t understand this part of lyrics.

“I forget when I get award now.
The wave I had to ride.
The paving stones I played upon.
They kept me on the grind.
So blame it on the pain.
That blessed me with life.”

I’ve already looked up some word i didn’t know but it’s still quite hard for me to understand this part.
Could someone tell me about it.
I don’t mind if it’s your opinion. :)

it pretty much means
"All the problems I had in life took me to where I am now, they made me work harder"

@Yosuke0802 this part of the song means litteraly no matter all problrms do you have in life it is depicted by paving stones in the wave refering to the life at the end you get a deserved reward and all pain that you suffer in the jorney remind you that you are alive an this is the most precious thing you have
in one phrase live your life with intensity and all pain you suffer makes you a better person in the blessing that is the life and share your optimism with your peers
