sometime the words "about" and "around" they have a same meaning,right? so I wondering that is there have a difference in the way using these words?

About is more common in British English and around more in American English.

They aren’t exactly the same, but we often use both words to mean “approximately”. You can say “it is about this big” or “it is around this big” and both sentences have the same meaning.

For different ways to use these words:

“About” is used to describe the topic of something. For example, “the movie Finding Nemo is about fish” or “I want to learn about fish”

“Around” always means “near” or “close to”. For example, “my house is around here”

🔅“About” will be used more when talking about duration, although “around” can be used that way as well Example: “The cake should be baked in the oven for about 25 minutes.” 🔅And it tends to be used when saying “reasonably close to” Example: “Getting read in the morning takes me about 15 minutes.” (When hearing this, one may consider the range to be 13-16 minutes, perhaps) “After exercising for an hour, I ate about 4 cookies.” 🔅This can also be used for location, wherein if you were to say “walking about the park,” it would mean wandering around but staying close to it It can also be used with time Example: “To get there by 4 o’clock, we should leave at about 2:30” 🔅And it can be used to say that something will happen in the reasonably close future Example: “She absentmindedly set the mug down on the table, not realizing that it was about to fall.” 🔅I, for example, would use “about” when I’m more sure about the estimate, and it’s meaning seems to hold higher probability than “around” 🔅Comparatively, although “around” has mostly the same usages, although it’s meaning is more along the lines of “nearby” Example: “I’ll be home around 7 o’clock.” 🔅In this sentence, the speaker is saying that it’s within the timeframe of 7, although they could feasibly be home at 7:30 and it would still not be an inaccurate estimate It has a more general meaning in this way, as if to say “in the ballpark of” 🔅Some consider it to be less formal than “about” Example: “I’ll stop by around lunchtime” 🔅By saying this, the speaker could come around during any moment considered lunch time, which could mean roughly 11-1:30, a rather broad range of time 🔅”Approximately” has a more formal feel to it, so if you were meeting up with a friend, you may sound a little strange if you said “I’ll be there in approximately half an hour.” But there’s nothing wrong with saying it (Personally, I don’t say it very often because in conversation, shorter words are easier and quicker) 🔅But it also has the strongest meaning, where you are sure enough that it goes beyond saying “about,” which is more sure than “around”
