To “come” someplace means to go someplace.
Ex:
To come home.
To come back.
You can’t use “come” to describe the action of going however.
For example, you can’t say:
I come home.
You can only say, “I came home”.
You can’t say:
He come home.
You’d have to say, “He came home”.
In both cases “came” is used to describe a completed action.
You can tell someone this:
I’ll come home as soon as I’m done for work.
You can also say:
I’m coming home.
But you’d have to say, “I’m going home.” to describe the actual act of going home.
“To go” can be used when “come” can’t as well as when it can.
Ex:
He’s going home.
I will go home right now. (I’ll come home right now.)
Can I go to the supermarket? (Can I come to the supermarket)
I can’t go to the party. (For this you could say, “I can’t come to the party.”)
Honestly I confused myself trying to explain this. It’s something that as a native speaker I never really think about.
Bottom line, I’m pretty sure we use “come” mostly when we’re going to go somewhere.
Ex:
I’m going come home late tonight.
I’ll come to the party.
We use “go” when we’re going to leave someplace. Such as in the sentence, “I’m going to go.” OR when we’re going to go someplace, “I’ll go to the party.”
GO seems to be more about physically moving from one place to the other.
COME is more about arriving at a new location.
You can GO without having a destination, but you can only COME to a distinct place.
Ex:
I came to a crossroads.
I’m going to go.
Hope that last part makes it a little more clear.

Generally, “come” means going toward and “go” means going away from or going to.
Ex.
Mom wants you to come home and visit more often.
Mom wants you to go home, because you’re aren’t dressed appropriately (to be out wherever they are).

@aly26451 Thank you so much! The last part really helped me understand what you’re saying. I was always confused about these two as a non-native speaker. haha
