As Jeff Wardle once said, “Traditions are important, but there's always that balance between traditions and newness and change. Change is hard, but this will be the start of new traditions and experiences.” Even though culture, traditions and customs play an important role in every society and build the identity of its citizens, it is not good to stick to them. Although I respect tradition, I go against eating ‘Asado’ every Sunday.
On the one hand, Argentinian ‘asado’ or barbecue has been a tradition for many decades.
It is a cultural traditional event between families and friends on weekends. There are many kinds of meat, such as morcilla, chorizo and ribs. On the other hand, most Argentinians are not aware of the process of the meat. Not only is the factory farm meat often unhealthy but the animals are in very inhuman situations. Moreover, the animals raised and slaughtered by the meat industry are intelligent and have feelings. Cows, pigs, sheep, goats are at least as smart as dogs. Chickens can solve puzzles and remember shapes that are hidden. Slaughtering these sensitive creatures is unethical.
In conclusion, I go against the tradition of eating asado due to the inhumanity conditions of the meat industry. Every living being that has a life and emotions should not be sacrificed for somebody’s food choice.
