price = the price to buy something.
The price of this apple is 30 cents.
The price of the airplane ticket is $75.
******
PRICING = FIGURING OUT the best price to charge customers for the product.
Figuring out pricing - means THINKING
= figuring out your COSTS and then what you will CHARGE the customer.
Example: The handyman makes a wood fence for the client.
He buys the wood and nails = MATERIAL costs
He does the work in 10 hours time= LABOR costs
To figure out the price he will charge the client- HE THINKS
what the wood and nails costs him
and how much to charge for labor per hour for his work.
What is REASONABLE?
******
Pricing in the FINANCIAL markets is VERY different.
I am not a financial analyst - so my knowledge here is basic and limited.
The pricing of stocks and bonds etc in the market fluctuates ( goes up and down)
UNRELATED to realistic things.
NOBODY IS THINKING and making a good price based on realistic things.
People are REACTING WITH FEAR.
So FEAR ( not thinking) is driving the price.
******
The price of a stock or bond is SIMPLY = the price that someone is WILLING to pay for it
AT THAT MOMENT in TIME.
****
Example - ( I am making all of these numbers up!)
Apple computer stock sold for $100 in January 2008.
Apple computer sold for $200 on in January 2020
On Tuesday March 12, 2020 - people are in FEAR and Panic:
the stock prices GO DOWN
and
Apple computer stock sold for $34
Apple computer company has NOT changed.
*****
When people are less FEARFUL- Apple computer stock will GO UP again!
This is pricing in fear.
People’s FEAR is changing the price DOWN and then UP and then DOWN.
Nobody is THINKING RATIONALLY!
******
Pricing in fear =
Nobody is actually making thoughtful decisions about pricing.

1) There is a lot of fear in people’s minds about the coronavirus pandemic
and what it will do to the economy of each country and the world.
The financial markets = stock market, bond market, money market etc
2) These markets are “ tanking” = failing, collapsing, suffering a rapid decline in prices.
3) This decline in the financial markets IS caused by the FEAR and PANIC inside people.
The fear is causing the prices to fall rapidly.
Thus - the fear is showing up in the low prices.
The markets are INCLUDING the factor of FEAR in the current prices.
When people are feeling secure about the world and the economy
the financial markets do WELL and prices RISE.
We could say- people’s feelings ARE ALWAYS a factor IN the price of the markets.
