Was ist der Unterschied zwischen let alone und much less ?Du kannst auch einfach Beispielsätze geben.
I think these two are similar..but I’m not sure. Is there any difference between them and whether one is more common?

I believe they are both the same. They are both equally common. There is not much difference, as the meaning is the same. I think "much less" sounds a bit more emotional- but this is just my opinion, this is not a fact.
Here is a sentence I made up:
(A) I didn't think I would forget my socks,(B) let alone my shoes!
I didn't think I would forget my socks, much less my shoes!
Let alone = The thought (losing my shoes) did not even *occur* to me. It was completely unforeseen/a surprise. I did not even think it could be possible.
Much Less = It almost sounds like - You are comparing the unlikelihood of A with B directly. You are saying: I did not even think A (forgetting my socks) would happen! I didn't even think about *thinking* B (forgetting shoes) could happen! It is a direct contrast between the two statements. You are still saying B (forgetting shoes) was a surprise/unforeseen - but you are implying it is *more* unforeseen than A.
I hope that makes sense? The meaning and function are both the same. I think, in my opinion, there is just a very small difference *in nuance* - not in meaning.

@Muzzy Can I have another question? Between “much less” and “still less”, which one do you use? And if you use both, which one more often?

@NanMonera I personally use "not alone" more. But that is just up to preference I think. I know people who use "much less" more as well.
