@Orchid11111 here reduce is used for reduction of something else like money....with for a reason is give as why they reduce
At least that's how I saw the sentence

Yes for is necessary as it indicates the reduction is needed

@Khadijah111 I just referred to an English dictionary and it says the verb "reduce" is a transitive verb. So I think the verb should be followed by an object without a preposition. I mean we don't say that we should reduce for infected cases.
