"Should customers have any further questions, please direct them to the floor manager."
The sentence is not interrogative . Then why is there 'should' before the subject?

Should in this sentence means the same thing as "if."

@JennieHeo06 should is implying if. So that sentence is saying “ if customers have anymore questions, please direct them to the floor manager”

Really? I've never seen such a case!😮
Can you please answer my further questions as well? I'm so curious about this! x'D
① Is this kind of usage common?
② Is there any difference in nuance you perceive when you first see sentences each with "if" and "should"?
③ What do you think is the origin of this usage? I can't see any connection between them.

1) It's quite common, but it's more formal. You'd be most likely to come across it in a workplace.
2) As above, "should" is more formal.
3) No idea, sorry.

@JennieHeo06 "Should" is definitely less common than "If" when marking conditionals. However, it is a perfectly valid way to say "In the event that..." and that kind of usage is where it is most frequently encountered. In other words, it is used to set out a hypothetical situation, and is generally followed by a course of action to be taken in response. I'm afraid I do not know how this form originated.

That person above was correct on #1 but actually I’d be seen in any public place not just in workplaces.
She’s correct on #2
#3 - ‘should’ has a few meaning actually but most people only use about 1-2 ways. The definition (that is used in that way, which is formal) is to indicate a probable event/situation/emotion and “if” could be used to Indicate probable situation too [ex: If I run, will you come with me?] so they could be interchangeable in some ways.
