Frage über VEREINIGTE STAATEN
How can a ordinary small town boy from work class climb to middle class?
He isn't got much talent on sports or music etc. Fortunately, he loves reading and his academic perfoemence rank top 10% in school, but his school isn't good enough so that he can go to top colleges. Now he is in the last year of high school, under this situation, what major should he select in college? What job should he apply after college?

Going to a prestigious college isn't as important as what you do when you're there. Depending on his interests and talents, he might study business, law, engineering, or medicine.
Also, some kinds of professions pay very well without requiring more than an associate's degree, like welding and electrical work.

I was one of those kids from a farming town who is now middle class. I studied business. He doesn't have to go to the Ivy Leagues to make it, just one of the better schools in his state, which is attainable for someone from any school. Finance, pre-med, and engineering are all good choices for majors because they make decent money and there will always be jobs for them. I'd recommend against law because there are too many lawyers right now and it's harder to find a job.
