“When” is used if an event is unique, or if it’s date/time is known. For example, “I left when it got dark.”
“Whenever” is better suited for recurring events, or events with an uncertain date/time. It can be substituted with “every time (that)” (for repeating events) or “at whatever time (that)” (for events with an uncertain date/time). Some examples with “whenever”:
“I feel so tired whenever I sit down to study” (= “I feel so tired every time I sit down to study”)
“Call me whenever you change your mind” (= “Call me at whatever time it is that you change your mind”)
“When” can often be used in place of “whenever” (and still sound natural), but it doesn’t really work the other way around. For example, you could also say, “Call me when you change your mind”, and the meaning doesn’t change in any way. If you were to say “I left whenever it got dark”, the meaning changes slightly and implies a habitual or repeated action in the past.
In your sentence, I believe either would work, although I have a slight preference for “when” - it just seems a bit more intuitive.
Overall, the sentence comes off as a bit unnatural in English, so I would suggest something a little simpler to sound more colloquial and avoid repetition. “Can you correct any mistakes I make when we talk in English?” might be suitable if you do not need to speak formally.
I hope that helps!
