Frage über Englisch (US)
I have a question for native English speakers.
In Korean grammar, the verb -have- is classified into two types: auxiliary verbs and verbs.
When used like -have + past participle-, it is called a modal verb.
When written like -have + something-, it is called a verb.
Do native speakers feel -have- as a different category of verb in each case?
Or do you feel that have has only one meaning and only the object is different?

We feel like they are different. “Have” as an auxiliary verb does not have the same meaning as the regular verb “have.”
As an auxiliary verb, “have” has almost no meaning besides “in the past,” it is just used for the grammar, and the 2nd verb has all the important meaning.
As a verb, “have” has all the important meaning.

@3chord Thank you for the answer!
May I ask you an additional question?
Are your answers based on grammatical knowledge?
Or is it based on your everyday sense of language?
The reason I ask this question is that, in fact, few Koreans have a deep knowledge of the grammar of their native language. Usually, they rely on the instinctive sense of language that they have learned from childhood.
Could I judge that your answer is a everyday and instinctive sense of language most people have?

@youyou88 My answers are based on instinctive sense of the language. In American schools, children learn about spelling, but most of us do not learn anything about grammar. We learn all of it by reading and listening to the words of other people. Because of this, most Americans do not use “perfect” grammar, and we do not know basic grammar terms.
For example, I asked some of my friends about “have” as an auxiliary verb, and they did not know what an “auxiliary verb” means. They were not sure if it has one meaning or two meanings. But they all use the word correctly.
