Interesting question:^D
First, there is no strict rule about it, I guess. Second, a little boy can call his big sister “aneki. “
I think the way people call their brother and sister depends on their personality or family, etc... To me, generally “oniichan“ sounds cute and “aniki“ is used by people who are in junior high or older. But I guess people can call their brother and sister as they want! :)

I think that there is some rule for that.
In Japan, girls tend to call an older brother "Oniichan" and call an older sister "Oneechan", while boys tend to call an older brother "Aniki" and call an older sister "Aneki". The way how girls call an older sister or brother is cuter.
Although I have my older brother, I don't usually call him "Oniichan" and just call his name because I don't want to. This is so rare. Most people follow the above rule.

Yes, a boy can call his older brother "oniichan" and his older sister "oneechan" as well. Sometimes some boys use "niichan" and "neechan" .
So, after all, I can say it depends on what kind of person he/she is. :)
