Frage über Englisch (UK)
I have two questions about the lyrics of “Never enough”, from The Greatest Showman.
1. What is “getting louder”?
2. What is “echoing”?
Thank you!
“I'm trying to hold my breath
Let it stay this way
Can't let this moment end
You set off a dream in me
Gettin' louder now
Can you hear it echoing?
…”

in this context, "getting louder" means that her dreams or wants are getting bigger. This song is about how no matter how much money or possessions she has, it means nothing if she can't be with the man she loves (PT Barnum).
In terms of the definition, "getting louder" means for something to increase in volume. "echoing" is a sound when you are in a hollow or empty area and the sound bounces off the walls (usually associated with being in a cave or empty room).
