What case do we use after работать, служить. Because in my phrasebook it says that i need to use the instrumental case. But in the example sentence the instrumental case is shown as comparing and more as "as".
The example sentence is "Он работал инженером" - "He has worked as an engineer". Can you give me examples where we can use other cases as well after these two words? Because i got kind of upset.

1) Genitive case: он работал в качестве (кого?) = kim olarak?
Он работал в качестве экспедитора (genitive), но при этом выполнял ещё функции грузчика.
Я работала в качестве внештатного корреспондента (genitive) этой газеты.

2) Dative case: служить кому?/чему?
Солдатский долг - служить отечеству (dative of отечество).
Эти сапоги служили мне 5 лет, а теперь порвались.

3) Accusative case: работать на кого?/что?
Он работал на компанию (accusative of компания) Apple 5 лет, а потом его переманили конкуренты.
