The advertisers paid for the production of the TV show.
If you want to be sure:
See how it says "commercials" in plural and "your favorite TV show" is singular? When it says "its production", it means only one thing (the TV show), otherwise it would say "their production" (if they meant the commercials).

production = the making of the commerical.
so the editing, casting of actors, scriptwriting, directing, etc. all the things that the commercial is made up of is its production!

@Kyrie_Vingving so the subject of this sentence are the commercials. the production is for the commercial :)
you can remove "during your favorite TV show" and the sentence would still make sense! this part is not necessary and just adds extra information. but if you removed the first part and kept the part about your "favorite TV show", it would not make sense.

@Kyrie_Vingving “it’s”refers to the advertisement itself.
It’s pretty much saying: But the advertisers have paid for the advertisements production.
But in English, we sometimes say “it” to make the sentence shorter. ☺️

@Kyrie_Vingving I'm seeing everyone saying it's the commercials, and that was my first impression too before I read it again and considered the context (and remembered that I had this exact conversation with my parents when I was a child hahaha). It really gives that impression!

@ballato Although everyone was saying it is commercials, you considered the whole context and find the true! Amazing!
