Definitely, certainly and absolutely are synonyms. (近义词)
The main difference is the usage of these words.
Absolutely implies “100% belief”. 绝对的意思
Definitely implies “strong agreement”. 肯定的意思
Certainly is probably not as harsh as those two words above but also implies similar meaning of “agreement”. 一定的意思
绝对会
肯定会
一定会
都是近义词 是看某种情况就使用某种词语

@chang123 Thank you! Could you take a look at this sentence and tell me which of these three best fits the blank?
I’ll ____ send you a gift card to make it up to you.

@studiousme certainly or definitely would fit.
If you want to talk to a customer, you can use definitely or certainly.
Definitely when you want to make sure that the customer will receive the gift card.
Certainly when you want to give affirmation that you will give the gift card.
The difference is that definitely is something you have to do 100%. If you fail to do it, the customer will not trust you anymore.

@chang123 Thanks so much for the insightful explanation! So “absolutely” doesn’t sound natural to you in that sentence. Ummm... Could you make just a couple sentences where “absolutely” sounds natural to you?

@studiousme Absolutely is natural but most would avoid using it because it is 100% and not everyone makes promises. 😂
Some examples of Absolutely:
Are you absolutely sure we can pass this test?
What Alex said is absolutely correct.
You have made the absolutely right choice.

@chang123 Thanks a lot for your sample sentences! Honestly, to me, all of these three words sound like the speaker is making promises. 😂
Also, is it natural to say “She said she knows the absolutely correct truth”?
Also, is it natural to say “She said she knows the absolutely correct truth”?

@studiousme correct and truth have the same context so they can’t be written together.
Also, absolutely is an adverb not an adjective.
Absolute truth ✅
Absolutely true✅
Absolutely truth❌
Correct truth❌ (A truth is correct. There is no need for double meanings)
