We accept the love we think we deserve.
I saw a movie, Wallflower(it is not whole title though) and the sentence above were impressive to me in it. What does it mean exactly? I have guessed 'we accept the love according to the belief about myself' ?!

Yeah, pretty much. You only accept no more than the amount of love you have for yourself.

perks of being a wallflower is the movie. It means you will start a relationship with the person who you think is right for you (i.e. He/she is your type), or who you think is worthy. Depending on how you see yourself (self-esteem) you may end up with a 'jerk' or someone who really cares about you

We accept the love we think we deserve is a philosophical concept that is popular right now. It means that no matter how great a person you are, if you don't believe that you are great, then you won't let people love you as if you are. Therefore, in order to be loved by others, you need to treat yourself with love.
