i don’t speak any Spanish so i answer in English.

in usually, we scarcely useやあ！ because it sounds awkward. instead ofやあ！, we use よっ！,よう！. the man is same toやあ.
we only use them when wn talk to my friends because it’s so casual phrase.

こんにちは is more formal phrase. we use it in formal situation or to senior people.

Now I see, the use of よっ！ or よう！is very informal, really ? But it's ok for family?

And, can I use こんにちは with stranger people? For example in a new class group? Or will it sound dated?
I like greet, if I am shopping which one is better?

ya,よっ！orよう！is informal but we don’t use for family. in that case,おはようorおやすみ are best. おはよう means morning, andおやすみ means good night.

we can useこんにちは with strangers,clark and of cause, new classmate. it doesn’t old-fashioned.i recommend you to useこんにちは when going shopping.

especially for the new class group, self introducing situation, we useこんにちは, but for first dialog, it’s okay to talk suddenly because they all maybe feeling nervous so i’m sure almost all of them world be happy to talk to you.

If that means good night,
what is the difference with こんばんは?
In english, for example,to say "good night" for go to sleep, and says "good evening" for greet from 6:30pm (approximately). Is this a similar case?
