Some examples:
I go to work every day.
I go to the park on Sundays.

I go on holiday every year.
or
I take a holiday every year.

I go to work by train.
or
I take the train to work.

There are lots of meanings of "take".
Here are a few different meanings for the verb "take", with alternative sentences that mean the same thing, where possible. There are other uses too.

I take sugar in my coffee. (I put sugar in my coffee.)
Small difference "I take sugar" indicates a preference or habit "I put sugar in my coffee" could be just one time.

I take Japanese classes. (I attend Japanese classes)

I will take an exam tomorrow. (I will sit an exam tomorrow)

I take a lot of photos.

Can you take this bag for me? (Can you hold/ carry this bag for me?)

You can take a tram from the airport to the city
and
You can go by tram from the airport to the city

Do these two mean the same thing?

Yes they mean exactly the same thing.

The small difference is the focus of the sentence, which bits are extra information. The way I think about it is this.
In the first sentence the mode of transport is attached to the verb (how is the focus) and where you are going is extra information. You could say
"You can take a tram"
and that would be a complete sentence, maybe the answer to someone asking
"How can I get from the airport to the city?"

With the second sentence you could do the same thing, but with "go" the order could be different.
"You can go from the airport to the city by tram"
The focus is more about where and you've added in "by tram".

In general you can use go on its own with just a destination and not the "how" you get there, although with this example

"You can go from the airport to the city"
it sounds weird. That's just a strange thing to tell someone, but not grammatically wrong.

You can't say
"You can take from the airport to the city".
