Was ist der Unterschied zwischen read her instructions und read instructions to her ?Du kannst auch einfach Beispielsätze geben.

I find the following expressions kind of weird. Probably it's the first time for me to see such structure.
e.g. : She handed me a drink.
The other day I found a similar structure.
I read her the instructions.

Why not "She handed the drink to me.", "I read the instructions to her."
We Chinese, it seems to me, tend you use the latter ones. The former ones are more fashionable, right? LOL.

Could you please explain the differences? And feel free to give more examples except "read" "hand" .

She handed me a drink is simply more casual than She handed the drink to me.

I read her the instructions is much more simple shortened way of saying things.

Both have the same meaning it means you have already read something. You have already done it.

We Americans often like to find easier ways to say things. Like Air-conditioner is often shortened to AC.

Example of Typical English shortening:

She handed me a quarter. I gave the change to her.

Or

She handed the quarter to me. I gave the change back to her.

There is not really much of difference. But perhaps the shows much more importance and formality.

And a is more casual often used for one of something.

I'm not sure if this is helpful to you.. 😅 I may have just written a lot.
