Frage über Englisch (UK)
I'm curious about the usage of "welcome" I first though welcome was just adjective such as You're welcome. But some of familiar expressions are
1. Welcome to Korea
2. I will welcome you whenever you visit me in Korea
3. Welcoming accommodation
So I want to know more about the meaning of "Welcome" clearly. Could anybody help me to show some proper examples :)

'To welcome' is the verb, and is used for 'I will welcome you' or 'they welcomed me with opened arms' is a popular phrase
- Englisch (UK)
And then the phrase welcome to Korea, it's still using the verb - it's saying [you are] welcome to Korea, or you are welcomed to Korea is more proper

@lily_flynn aha I see. What is the difference between welcome(adj) and welcoming(adj)? Can you say "I'm welcome you" instead of "I welcome you"?

@lily_flynn You are welcome to Korea. In this sentence, welcome is used as an adjective. Isn't it? or the word omitted is just "are"?

Actually I don't think that is an adjective or a verb... It's just a phrase

@lily_flynn Being strict to children is not that bad kkk That's why Koreans could grow up with good attitudes and work on what they want to do enthusiastically :) I think ultimately it has make Korea improve quite fast since Korean war in 1950.
- Englisch (UK)
That's very true being strict makes you work hard, but I think western countries tend to think it's not healthy to work tooo hard

I'm also curious, I have a friend who's really into kpop and she showed me some things.. How popular is it in Korea? Like does everyone listen to it?
- Englisch (UK)
Because a lot of people in England and America think our pop music is badly produced, cliché, etc. Is it the same?
- Koreanisch
@lily_flynn No one in Korea wants to be a hard worker. Korean society is wrong and really competitive to get a job for now. We are needed to be more open minded to anything for our bright future and throw away some old bad things while keeping such nice traditional things :) It's time for Koreans to deserve to take a break or take it easy.
- Koreanisch
@lily_flynn Not that much. I actually prefer listening to old Korean pop music in the 1990s-2000s. I recommend you should listen to songs from Brown eyes. My favorite song is "already 1 year" Recent K pops sounds noisy for me nothing else kkk But that's true Korean teens love K pop from Bts, Big Bang, EXO I don't think Bts in Korea is as popular as in other countries as I'm concerned.
- Koreanisch
K pop and drama is saying just love love love the same as yours. I speculate the reason k pop music gets popular in the world is because it looks fresh for you guys in many ways like melody, appearance and well organized dance :) In addition, Psy is a kind of a trigger to make it become popular all over the world^^

Yeah over here bts is kinda labelled as the 'biggest' kpop group I think mainly because they came to the billboards

@lily_flynn Because of your country? I used to live in the U.K. for my English skills. Don't be deceived by me at all. I'm not that fluent in English unlike your guess :) That's why I'm here on this app to ask anything about English to native English speakers ^^
