Antwort I'd been wanting to go to the US since my childhood, and at last that dream came true two years ago.
In my opinion, "I'd", is more natural, and "I had" is more formal and dramatic. But either one is fine, I was just pointing it out :) hope this helps!

I would actually say that the most natural way of putting this would go something like "Ever since I was a kid (or child is fine too), I've always wanted to go to America. My dream finally came true two years ago." This is not to say these four sentences are incorrect. Simply that this sounds the most natural to me.
