Could someone attempt to explain להכיל את מישהו to me ? I know it's untranslatable 😊

This is just an attempt, so please do take it with a grain of salt:
I'd say 'lehachil mishehu' means - accepting someone that does/says things or behaves in a way that you don't like/appreciate or maybe even find wrong. Not trying to change him or fight him. Accepting the downsides(in your point-of-view) of someone.
Being patient and not judgemental.
BTW, it literally means 'to contain'. Like a bottle that contains water in it.

Hope that helps!(;
May I ask what's the level of hebrew you're currently at? Pretty high I suppose(B2/C1+ by european language system)
I'm asking because it's a complex word and as a language learner myself(German) - I'm pretty curious..(:

@omer: Wow I completely missed this message... 😳 Thank you very much for your answer ! So what you're saying is that it is translatable ; it means 'embracing someone', right ? I thought there was an additional idea to this that I couldn't quite put my finger on...
Also, if you don't say ׳את׳, how would you say 'I am embracing her' ? להכיל אותה still ?

As for my Hebrew level... It's pretty ecclectic, since I learned by myself. To give you an idea, I got accepted to study in Hebrew at uni, but I'm not fluent yet, and since I didn't have actual classes I learned in the weirdest order, like I could say 'CPR' way before 'pencil' 😄 But basically yes, I think B2/C1. What is your level in German ?
