I found ppl tend to say with "get to + verb" rather than stating plainly the "verb" itself.

For example,,
"We didn't get to spend lots of time together"
other than
"We didn't spend lots of ~(ditto)~."

Could u specify what the differences are?.
Is that the same as saying,,,
"we have come to~~"???

@Grat: 'We didn't get to' implies that you wanted to but didn't. The other way is just stating a fact and could mean that you made a choice not to do whatever the thing was.

@Grat: Saying "get to + verb" specifies that there was no opportunity to so said verb rather than just saying the verb which is more vague.
For example, "I didn't get to see the movie." implies that there was no opportunity for me to see the movie or something was preventing me from doing so. If I has said "I didn't see the movie." there could be any reason that I did not see it.

the "get to + verb" phrase is also often followed by an explanation i.e. "I didn't get to go to the store yesterday because my mother needed me to come over and help her with her garden."

If so, it may have same nuance as
"we have come to not spending the time together" ...
doesn't it?.

@Grat: Not really. "We have home to not spending time together" has a different implied meaning. It is a little hard to explain so please let me know if I need to explain it a different way but "despite my will(ingness), I have come to (verb)" in the case of bot spending time together usually means that it was a natural drifting apart from each other with no specific reason whereas "get to + (verb)" usually has a specific reason for the verb not to have happened. If I were to say "despite my willingness, we have come to not spend any time together." would imply that we naturally moved towards not being able to spend time together because of general circumstances where "We didn't get to spend much time together." would imply that there is a specific reason ( like distance, or busy schedules) for not being able to spend time together. Also it is very formal to say "differently from (or despite) my will(ingness) I have come to (verb)" is very formal and would mostly likely not be used.
