Was ist der Unterschied zwischen I had been using this uniform for such a long time I decided not to wear it any longer und I used this uniform for such a long time I decided not to wear it any longer ?Du kannst auch einfach Beispielsätze geben.

Is there any difference between these two? Which one would you choose to use?

There is no difference; they say the same thing. Most people would say "I used this uniform for such a long time I decided not to wear it any longer" just because it gets to the point more quickly.

I had been using używa sie w sytuacji kiedy coś sie działo w przeszłości ale sie skończyło w momencie rozpoczęcia czegoś innego (tez w przeszłości), w tym zdaniu, do momentu decyzji żeby uniformu nie używać
a I used sugeruje ze działo sie to w jakimś określonym czasie, np wczoraj, i jest to czynność dokonana
Wiec myśle ze I have been using bedzie lepiej pasowało :)

@gelskg I wouldn't agree with your statement, neither have I asked for the rules indicating how to use the tenses properly, thanks for the reply tho. A piece of advice, try to explain questions in the language they were asked in, so you can get corrected by native speakers.

@Govsky Well you asked about the difference between those two forms, so i thought that rules about using them is what you find confusing.
Also since you understand my answer, I dont think it matters what language was it in :)

@gelskg No, actually I got confused when I realized I would be able to use them both in the same context, I found it hardly possible to use them interchangeably without any slight changes in the meanings the would convey, so I had to make sure I wouldn't make any faux pas using them the way I felt to be correct. I know the rules very well, probably better than any non native speaker does haha
