What the difference between a friend and a dating partner?
My friend who calls me sweetheart said that I’m a just friend. I thought I’m a date for him but he said no.
He said his definition is Friend > Gf > dating partner > friends
I’m thinking about stopping to contact with him. Because for me he is weird...
American guys thinking way is like that..?
Please tell me if he is weird .

@keiaqua He sounds like he's keeping you around to play with your feelings but I'm just assuming here. I'd say if you feel uncomfortable take a break from talking to him and maybe give him another chance in a couple weeks

@keiaqua I think it's a bit weird if he calls you sweetheart but says you're just a friend. I don't think you should stop talking to him because of that though. If it makes you uncomfortable just tell him to stop calling you that

I think he says excuse. He said to me he doen’t want to commit but wants to keep contact with me as a friend. Then I answered sorry I don’t want to keep it.
I don’t understand his thinking way and am confused... it looks like we are date but not. that’s way I posted it.

Yes, I’ve known him 1 year and 2 months. We met in Japan.. so it means he is a foreigner here. Thinking way is different. Especially dating rules.

Of course! I told him I’m not a convenient person, because he doesn’t understand Japanese language, or I’m not a fwb. He said he can’t be in a relationship then find out another person to me. But also he says he keeps to contact with me. Why!? I said to him you are only care about yourself!
